As a doctor, I believe in listening to patients and partnering with them to help them reach their health goals. I try and keep patients off of drugs if possible, but recognize that drugs are necessary and helpful in certain situations. But I want to help people can get healthy in as natural and nontoxic ways as possible. Toward that end, we strongly emphasize lifestyle changes, healthy diet, and nutritional supplements where necessary.
We also employ a concept known as functional medicine when we can, and we try and optimize hormone levels, especially thyroid, adrenal hormones, testosterone, and bioidentical estrogen. Finally, we help people lose weight using a simple, powerful, and scientifically proven method, because obesity is an epidemic problem that contributes strongly to most of the chronic health problems in our country.
Dr. Epperly is a board-certified family practitioner with more than 30 years of experience — including 15 in functional and integrative medicine. With a background in clinical nutrition, he works to treat a variety of issues including: environmental allergies, food sensitivities and intolerances, gut dysfunction, gut brain connection, thyroid and sex hormone issues, men’s and women’s sexual health, bioidentical hormone replacement, hormone pellet implants, heart attack and stroke prevention, weight loss, chronic fatigue, and bowel problems.
He is also a strong proponent of Low Dose Naltrexone therapy. Dr. Epperly graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and completed his family practice residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. He is affiliated with Central DuPage Hospital, although his practice is exclusively office based. He is a certified Clinical Nutritionist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, and belongs to the Obesity Medicine Association and North American Menopause Society.
Dr. Epperly has also received special training through courses and seminars in the areas of allergy, hormone therapy, clinical nutrition, and heart attack and stroke prevention. This has enabled him to become enormously more effective in dealing with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, menopause, arthritis, bowel problems, and many others, while being able to rely much less on drug therapy. As an evangelical Christian, Dr.
Epperly believes that good health is a blessing from God, and we are to be good stewards of the bodies we’ve been given. He tries to encourage his patients to pay strong attention to their spiritual health, and enjoys praying with anyone who so wishes.
