As a classic Bastyr trained Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Sundene will perform a comprehensive new patient history, review of systems, physical exam and laboratory evaluation in order to develop a customized protocol for each patient. Dr. Sundene can provide a full spectrum of care between pharmaceutical and natural options and has extensive training in prescribing bioidentical hormones and prescription medications for primary care conditions.
Dr. Sundene prefers to prescribe medications judiciously and works hard to prevent disease in her patients, as well as control naturally many chronic disease conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol by first using herbs, supplements and therapeutic diets before prescribing medications. Due to her extensive training in integrated medicine she is often referred complex patients on multiple medications in need of chronic disease management and is considered an expert in her field of Women’s Health and Hormones.
Dr. Nicole Sundene has worked in Family Medicine and Women’s health for the past 20 years. Initially as a Family Medicine nurse from 1999-2007, and as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor since 2007. She enjoys providing Primary Care for Women interested in holistic and alternative healing as well as nutrition, herbal medicine, bioidentical hormones and counseling. She practices an integrated style of alternative and prescription Family Medicine for patients in need of complex care options and specializes in treating menopause, osteoporosis, female gynecological and urological chronic conditions such as chronic bladder infections, lichen sclerosis, interstitial cystitis, kidney disease, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, chronic yeast infections and chronic vaginal infections.
At Bastyr University she trained with the leading Naturopathic Gynecology experts, Dr. Jane Guiltinan and Dr. Laurie Cullen in Internships from 2005-2007. From 1999-2002 she worked in an Osteoporosis and Hormone clinic where her interest in treating femal conditions began. From 1995-1999 she worked at health food stores while studying Biochemistry at Western Washington University.
