After achieving her BSc in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University, she went on to complete the naturopathic medical program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.

There she learned holistic primary care medicine rooted in treating the whole person, identifying the root cause of disease, focusing on prevention, patient education, and honoring the healing power of nature. She is fascinated by the mind body connection and its innate wisdom. She enjoys working with her patients to invite awareness and balance into their lives. She runs a general practice, but is particularly excited when helping patients with anxiety, acne concerns, digestive issues, and stress management.

Outside of the clinic she enjoys acrobatics, breathwork, meditation, and listening to the calming waves at the beach.

As a Naturopathic Physician, I know that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. Our bodies desire health, but certain factors can inhibit it from doing so; for example stress, diet, and lifestyle. Symptoms, such as bloating or elevated blood pressure, are our body’s way of signalling that there is a problem. I strongly believe in identifying and treating the root cause in order to achieve relief, rather than just suppressing the symptoms.

By doing a thorough intake of your case, which would include a physical examination and laboratory tests, I can determine what these obstacles are so that, together, we can alleviate the root cause and bring your body back into balance. My path to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor was less than conventional, as I used to be a Chartered Accountant and Management Consultant in Vancouver for a number of years.

After some soul searching, I decided to follow my passion for medicine and serving people, which would change the course of my life forever. I enrolled at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, where I completed the four year Doctorate Program. Every day I am grateful for taking the leap to follow my heart and become a Naturopathic Doctor. I am so passionate about this medicine, and most importantly, what it can do for you.

When not working, I spend as much time as I can in the outdoors, to be close to nature and it’s rejuvenating powers. Whether it’s hiking, camping, exercising or going to the beach, I’m always happiest when I’m outside. I have always loved to play a lot of sports, and my favourites at the time being are tennis, volleyball and skiing. I also love to explore the globe any chance I can get!I run a general family practice, and have a special interest in Female Wellness, Pain Management and Digestive health.

Some of the types of practices I enjoy most are acupuncture, IV therapy, physical medicine including manipulations, total body modification and mind-body therapy, while always focusing a lot on the foundations of good health such as diet and lifestyle. As a Naturopathic Doctor, my mission is to have a lasting impact on the way you achieve balance in your life, by sharing with you my knowledge and passion for natural medicine.

I intend to educate you, learn from you, and serve you with honesty, integrity and an open heart. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to guide you to your desired health goals, ultimately leading to a happier and healthier you!.

Julia Dean offers the following therapies: Acupuncture, Naturopathic Injection Therapies

Dr. Julia Dean, BScN RN ND I began my career in health care as a registered nurse. I found it to be a wonderful and rewarding profession, but after four years of working in acute care and community health care, I felt something was missing. I had been seeing a naturopathic doctor for several years, and what I learned from my ND had completely transformed my busy, stressful life. As my physical and mental health improved and my understanding of health and nutrition deepened, I realized that this was the kind of care I wanted to offer my patients.

I wanted to be able to spend quality time with my patients, to truly understand their concerns and teach them how to optimize their health and improve their quality of life, regardless of their health issues. With the encouragement of my family and friends, I made the life-changing decision to move to Toronto and go back to school. I am incredibly honoured to now be practicing naturopathic medicine in the beautiful community of Hubbards and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my patients.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, I have always led an active life. I played soccer for many years and have run several half marathons. I enjoy practicing yoga, sailing, and skiing, cooking and baking healthy recipes, and relaxing with family and friends. As a mom and entrepreneur, I understand how busy life can be. I prioritize staying active and maintaining healthy habits so I can better care for my family and pursue a rewarding career helping others feel their best.

My background as a registered nurse and my knowledge as a naturopathic doctor allow me to provide naturopathic care while appreciating the importance of conventional medicine. Naturopathic medicine can work safely and effectively in conjunction with conventional medicine, and there is a role for both in quality health care. The code of ethics for registered nurses and principles of naturopathic medicine both hold a special place in my heart, and I am dedicated to upholding them both in my practice.

I want to understand your health goals and work toward them with you so that you feel your best! I practice naturopathic family care to all ages and accept patients with many types of health concerns including but not limited to optimizing digestive health and nutrition, improving energy and mood, optimizing hormonal health, and managing diabetes. I offer support for fertility, pregnancy, post-partum, breastfeeding, and menopause.

I also have a special interest in naturopathic cancer care. I want to help you improve your health, quality of life, and wellbeing in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. I can’t wait to meet you!QualificationsDr. Julia Dean, ND completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at Dalhousie University in 2010. She worked in a hospital in acute care for two years followed by two years as a community health nurse.

In 2014, she moved to Toronto to study naturopathic medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) and graduated with her Doctor of Naturopathy in 2017. She was the founder and co-president of the Integrative Oncology Club at CCNM. She completed a 1-year clinical internship at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) and the Parkdale Community Health Centre. Dr. Dean was an intern on the Adjunctive Cancer Care (ACC) shift at the RSNC working under the supervision of a FABNO (Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology) qualified naturopathic doctor.

Dr. Dean was awarded the 2017 Natural Medicines Recognition Award for demonstrating exemplary promise in improving patient care through interest in an evidence-based approach to natural medicines. Dr. Dean was a senior research assistant with the Knowledge in Naturopathic Oncology Website (KNOW) project for the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) in 2016 and 2017. Dr. Dean continued to work as a registered nurse in the community until 2018 when she transitioned to working full time as a naturopathic doctor.

Dr. Dean is a licensed naturopathic doctor. She is currently registered with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NSAND).
