Dr. Sweeney provides holistic Naturopathic medicine to help improve health of the whole family while using the most recent medical research in conjunction with natural therapies in his practice. Treatments are focused around treating the root cause of disease, not just treating symptoms.
Dr. Sweeney is a licensed primary care physician who practices integrative and holistic medicine. He received his doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon. During his studies he completed intensive yearlong clinical internships in cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine and functional gastroenterology. After graduation he completed his residency at NCNM and then went on to work as a staff physician at Outside In Medical Center where he treated at-risk youth and the homeless latino community of Portland.
He has been in private practice for over ten years, over that time he has treated thousands of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, heartburn, chronic gas and bloating, and other conditions related to the gastrointestinal tract, and he has become particularly interested in the functional medicine approach to improving digestive function. Dr. Sweeney is happily accepting new patients and looks forward to continuing to treat the underlying causes of disease in Douglas County for many years to come.
