Dr. Julia Dean, BScN RN ND I began my career in health care as a registered nurse. I found it to be a wonderful and rewarding profession, but after four years of working in acute care and community health care, I felt something was missing. I had been seeing a naturopathic doctor for several years, and what I learned from my ND had completely transformed my busy, stressful life. As my physical and mental health improved and my understanding of health and nutrition deepened, I realized that this was the kind of care I wanted to offer my patients.
I wanted to be able to spend quality time with my patients, to truly understand their concerns and teach them how to optimize their health and improve their quality of life, regardless of their health issues. With the encouragement of my family and friends, I made the life-changing decision to move to Toronto and go back to school. I am incredibly honoured to now be practicing naturopathic medicine in the beautiful community of Hubbards and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my patients.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, I have always led an active life. I played soccer for many years and have run several half marathons. I enjoy practicing yoga, sailing, and skiing, cooking and baking healthy recipes, and relaxing with family and friends. As a mom and entrepreneur, I understand how busy life can be. I prioritize staying active and maintaining healthy habits so I can better care for my family and pursue a rewarding career helping others feel their best.
My background as a registered nurse and my knowledge as a naturopathic doctor allow me to provide naturopathic care while appreciating the importance of conventional medicine. Naturopathic medicine can work safely and effectively in conjunction with conventional medicine, and there is a role for both in quality health care. The code of ethics for registered nurses and principles of naturopathic medicine both hold a special place in my heart, and I am dedicated to upholding them both in my practice.
I want to understand your health goals and work toward them with you so that you feel your best! I practice naturopathic family care to all ages and accept patients with many types of health concerns including but not limited to optimizing digestive health and nutrition, improving energy and mood, optimizing hormonal health, and managing diabetes. I offer support for fertility, pregnancy, post-partum, breastfeeding, and menopause.
I also have a special interest in naturopathic cancer care. I want to help you improve your health, quality of life, and wellbeing in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. I can’t wait to meet you!QualificationsDr. Julia Dean, ND completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at Dalhousie University in 2010.
