We practice Integrative Medicine, a science-based approach to care and wellness that focuses on the uniqueness of each patient rather than seeing her as a collection of symptoms. We look for root causes of illness, and always begin with the safest most natural treatments. Depending upon individual response, we will progress to more aggressive treatments until relief is achieved. Every patient visit is at least 30 minutes long, giving us ample time to comprehensively review the patient’s physical, emotional and spiritual status; answer all questions; discuss treatment options; and arrive at a treatment plan that satisfies the patient’s needs.
Dr. Gersh received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, where she majored in History and was graduated in only three years, while her medical degree was earned at the University of Southern California, where she was awarded entry into the prestigious medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She has also completed the 2-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona and is Board certified in both OB/GYN and Integrative Medicine.
Subsequent to medical school, Dr. Gersh did her residency at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles, where she won the CREOG Award annually, recognizing her as the program’s highest scoring resident on the standardized test administered to all OB/GYN residents across the nation. Since founding the Women’s Medical Group of Irvine, which was transformed years later into the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, Dr.
Gersh has continued to gather numerous awards. She has received the Orange County Medical Association’s Physician of Excellence Award for the past 15 years, and the SuperDoctor of Southern California Award every year from 2014 to 2019. She has been honored with the Outstanding Faculty Award by the OB/GYN department at the University of Southern California, where she taught residents surgery as an attending staff and Assistant Clinical Professor for more than 12 years.
Dr. Gersh has spent her entire career as both educator and student. She has never stopped learning and striving to increase her expertise in all areas of medicine. She sees the patient as an integrated whole, and refuses to accept conventional medicine’s limited view of people in terms of isolated organ systems. To properly treat her patients, she believes that continual learning is a must, and, to that end, she attends numerous conferences each year.
In addition, Dr. Gersh is now one of the most sought after lecturers on topics of women’s health and speaks around the world at major medical conferences, as well as doing webinars, webcasts, and podcasts. She also writes a series of monthly articles on the topic of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which is read by women around the globe. Dr. Gersh is a dedicated physician, committed to excellence in all respects, who always puts the interests of her patients above all else and has looked to the safest and most efficacious therapies to guide her patients on their paths back to wellness.
On a personal note, Dr. Gersh has four wonderful, accomplished offspring and a few gorgeous grandchildren as well. Her husband, Bob, is her lifelong companion and also the fitness specialist at the practice. Dr. Gersh loves adventure travel, reading, writing and dining with friends.
