Dr. Amber Tabares is a board certified and Arizona State Licensed Naturopathic Physician. She has a passion for assisting people in obtaining optimal health and improving their quality of life through the empowerment of education and naturopathic medicine. Committed to the principles of naturopathic medicine, Dr. Tabares believes the path of optimal health begins with adequate water intake, plenty of sunshine and fresh air, proper nutrition, mild-moderate exercise and ideal sleep cycles.
Inspired and motivated by the principle Physician as Teacher, she strives to empower others by teaching the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine one on one in her office, as well as to wider audiences. Dr. Tabares has served as a health educator to various inner-city youth programs and currently serves as clinical adjunct faculty in community medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Tabares utilizes a true naturopathic approach in her practice by shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, addressing the whole person not just an isolated set of symptoms. She spends time with her patients, listens to their histories and looks at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex chronic disease.
Through this approach, diagnostic exams, medical imaging and laboratory tests; Dr. Tabares develops personalized treatment plans that include specific diet and lifestyle recommendations along with targeted nutrient supplementation, cranial sacral therapy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, botanical or homeopathic prescriptions and/or bio-identical hormone replacement if appropriate. In this, she can support the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
Dr. Tabares has received extensive post-graduate training in comprehensive detoxification, mind body medicine, functional endocrinology and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. She is a member of the Naturopathic Medicine Institute, Arizona Naturopathic Medical Association and Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Tabares is a wife, a mother of four children and enjoys yoga, zumba, traveling and spending time with her family.
She also enjoys giving back to the community by serving as an active global health physician with Naturopathic Doctors Without Borders and is currently working on her certification in Global Health Practice and in Global Maternal and Child Health. Her personal and professional life experience has enriched her medical practice, making Dr. Tabares an expert in Natural Medicine.
