Emerald Mansfield, ND

Dr. Emerald Mansfield, ND
819 Se Morrison St Ste 115
Portland, Oregon, 97214
Phone: (503) 956-9396

My approach is to address the cause of illness and promote health, not just treat the symptoms. Mental and emotional imbalances often contribute to physical problems. Bodywork, such as Craniosacral and soft tissue work, is an excellent bridge between our emotions and our physical body. Treatment plans are personalized for each patient and often include bodywork and other natural treatments.

My purpose is to help improve your quality of life, and help create healthier families. I support women through the challenging transitions of preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. I provide individualized, holistic care to women and children for acute and chronic illnesses, as well as wellness care. My approach is to address the cause of illness and promote health, not just treat the symptoms.

Mental and emotional imbalances often contribute to physical problems. Bodywork, such as Craniosacral and soft tissue work, is an excellent bridge between our emotions and our physical body. Treatment plans are personalized for each patient and often include bodywork. My specialty is to support women struggling with women’s health issues such as: problematic periods, infertility, hormone imbalances, urinary incontinence, and pelvic pain.

I also specialize in helping individuals with diabetes, thyroid conditions, and children. I love supporting women during the childbearing year to ease the common complaints of pregnancy and postpartum, as well as preparing for a healthier pregnancy and birth. My interest in pregnancy, childbirth, and babies began at the age of sixteen when I witnessed my first birth and was left in awe of the birth process and power of the female body.

A career in naturopathic medicine was a natural choice because it encompasses midwifery, and its emphasis on prevention. It allows long-term service to families, thus maximizing the prevention of disease by starting at birth, or working with women to optimize health before pregnancy. It is my honor to help you and your family on your journey to better health. Please call to schedule a no charge meet and greet to see if we are a good fit.

Background: Dr. Mansfield received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Certificate in Natural Childbirth from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM), the nation’s oldest surviving naturopathic college. In addition to the required naturopathic coursework, she completed a one and a half year externship in midwifery, women’s health, and pediatrics; and over 100 hours of continuing education before graduation.

She also completed a one year post-graduate internship in midwifery. Dr. Mansfield lives in Portland, OR with her family. She enjoys knitting, cooking, hiking, snowboarding, gardening, fiddling with computers or smart phones, watching Star Trek, and most of all, watching her son learn new things.

Health is more than the absence of symptoms. I love working hand in hand with my patients to generate individualized care plans that work at addressing the underlying causes of disease and restore health. This is done together, utilizing the least invasive techniques available, and those best suited to the individual patients. My approach is person centered rather than disease centered. I readily collaborate with other medical providers to optimize care as needed.

Trained in Western and Eastern medicine philosophy and techniques, I choose to emphasize nutrition, healthy lifestyle and other natural treatments while utilizing labs, imaging and other forms of modern medicine to guide best practices.

I am a licensed Naturopathic Physician (ND) in the state of Oregon. I currently work at Peterson Clinic in my hometown of Hermiston, OR. I graduated Cum Laude as Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2017. Prior to naturopathic medical school I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology, with an emphasis in Neurobiology, from Brigham Young University – Idaho in 2011.

Throughout my education I have served in numerous leadership positions and I was recognized for excellence in academia, community service, and extracurricular activities. As a father and husband, I have a special appreciation for families and family life. Outside the time spent on patients in the clinic and after hours, I enjoy a wide variety of activities in the areas of sports, outdoor activities, and religious observance.

During a two-year religious mission to Bolivia which I became fluent in Spanish which I continue to use as needed. While I can see a large variety of conditions, I primarily focus on chronic conditions and preventative medicine for patients of all ages.

April Voves, ND

Dr. April Voves, ND
30250 Southwest Parkway Avenue Suite 4
Wilsonville, Oregon, 97070
Phone: (971) 373-4012
Fax: (877) 852-7184

April Voves offers the following therapies: Women’s Health, Menopause, Digestive Disorders, Adrenal Fatigue, Stress / Anxiety

I believe in working with my patients to address both the symptoms and the underlying cause of their condition, optimizing their health, and preventing disease. I use a variety of treatments including nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals, herbal medicine, and nutrition and lifestyle considerations. My office is a comfortable environment and visits are scheduled to allow ample time for patients to share their story.

My treatment plans are customized and tailored for each person. If my specific services aren’t quite enough or a specialist is needed, I gladly collaborate with a broad spectrum of medical providers, offering my patients completely integrative care.

Professional Bio:Dr. April Voves is a licensed Naturopathic Physician providing high quality, individualized, evidence informed medicine using both conventional and alternative therapies. She helps patients with hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, and those who fall through the cracks of conventional medicine. She completed a four-year, accredited, post graduate naturopathic medical degree at the National University of Naturopathic Medicine.

Her undergraduate degree is from Oregon State University in Nutrition Science. Outside of her private practice, Dr. Voves volunteers at Borland Free Clinic and is a proud member of the Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce. My Story:My interest in health and medicine started in childhood, particularly with nutrition. I went on to study nutrition in college and became fascinated with the human body and eagerly wanted to dive into all aspects of human health.

As I began to pursue a career in medicine, I worked in various allopathic medical settings, but it never felt like the right fit. I felt the conventional model couldn’t address all the patient’s needs and many of the providers I worked with were overworked and dissatisfied due to the unreasonable demands of the profit driven health care system. I knew there must be a better way to practice medicine.

All the while, I was adopting holistic health practices in my own life that were both beneficial to myself and our planet. I found naturopathic medicine through my own health journey and immediately knew this was the career for me. Ironically, after earning my Doctorate, I spent several years in a conventional urgent and primary care clinic. After a few years of practicing in a conventional model, I was becoming dissatisfied and burned out trying to balance my preferred practice style with the complexities of a large, fast paced, and metric driven medical system.

I was ready to slow down and truly engage with my patients to optimize their wellness. I went on to start Meadows Health and Wellness so I could balance my patients’ needs and desires with developing a sustainable and rewarding career in medicine for myself. My experience in the conventional medical model afforded me the knowledge and skills to offer a truly integrative approach, blending the best of conventional and naturopathic medicine.

I have a special focus and have successfully treated hormonal imbalances and digestive issues among other issues that often fall through the cracks of conventional medicine. I help busy, stressed out women achieve better health and happiness despite being told no.

1944 Ne 45Th Ave
Portland, Oregon, 97213
Phone: (971) 319-0045
Fax: (503) 296-5712

Hello, I’m Dr. Amy Kelchner, a naturopathic physician and energy worker with over twenty years of experience in the healthcare field. I have had a diverse naturopathic family practice in northern California for the past decade and am delighted to come back home to beautiful Portland and join my good friend and colleague in practice at the Amber Wellness Group. One of the most important things I’ve gained over the years is the profound understanding that healing happens within.

It is not something I do to someone else. My job is to work with each person to devise a plan that will help relieve them of their suffering, so they can bring their greatest potential into this world. I want to help remove the obstacles that make people sick. Sometimes the obstacles are emotional, sometimes they are dietary or structural or habitual. Other times they are environmental. Often they are complex.

Whether working with children or adults, I strive to stay present to each person’s potential and in search of the tools that will help get them there. My goal for each person is to build abundant resilience and a strong internal environment. Physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually. When we develop resilience, we can maintain balance even in the face of discord. When we nurture the internal environment instead of suppressing symptoms, the body learns to manage illness and handle stressors.

This is how we build skills and are better able to handle the next virus, toxin, or stressful situation that comes along. I do this from the seat of family doctor. I offer consultations and exams during times of sickness and health. I work with acute and chronic symptoms, physical, mental/emotional, and behavioral concerns. I work with both children and adults and offer nutrition guidance, herbal and supplement prescriptions, homeopathy, and craniosacral therapy.

I love to do vaccine consultations to help parents make these difficult and important decisions. I am passionate about my work with children because I know it can make a lifetime of difference. I often work with people who are experiencing fatigue, difficulty managing stress, chronic pain, or headaches. I work with all manner of diagnoses, and mostly, I work with people. I love to hear people’s stories, teach them about their bodies, and witness their healing.

I consider life an ongoing discovery, and am profoundly devoted to the beautiful, messy process. My work is in service to human evolution and deeply dedicated to the living earth.

Our care philosophy is to give each patient the individualized attention that their body needs. The acupuncturist sees pain and illness as expressions of an imbalance within the body’s system of energy. These imbalances are diagnosed and treated in relation to the whole person (whereas standard western medicine tends to treat only the specific symptoms of the disease). By combining ancient wisdom with modern care, we are able to help people to to restore balance and vitality to their lives.

Dr. Harris is a fourth generation natural healer and acupuncturist. He grew up in beautiful southern Oregon, and attended Five Branches University where he obtained his Masters degree in traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Harris has since gone on to obtain a Doctorate from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where he further specialized in women’s health and auricular medicine. He has interned at the ivy league Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and in 2019 was the lead acupuncturist for the Beckley VA medical center.

A leader in the field of neuromuscular pain medicine, Dr. Harris enjoys working with veterans and helping them overcome their pain. When he’s not with his patients, you will will find him in nature, hiking the mountains of Southern Oregon.

17685 Sw 65Th Ave
Lake Oswego, Oregon, 97035
Phone: (503) 747-2021

I use an integrated inclusive approach in patient care. This means that I listen, take time to study the problems in its totality and create a thorough understanding of the situation. This means that we use lab testing and imaging to help understand what the conventional medical diagnosis is but also determine functional & physiological diagnoses. Treatments relieve symptoms, but more importantly, we pursue restoration of health and auto-regulation/homeostasis in a very deliberate and focused manner.

By giving the body what it needs (nutrients, hormones, vitamins, medicines) and by removing body burden, or obstacles to self regulation (infections, toxic metals and chemicals, parasites, immune dysfunction, insomnia etc. ) the body is able to self regulated much better and either heals or need from zero to a lot less symptomatic management. In addition, I use bioregulatory techniques and medicines to support the body in attaining a stable healthy state requiring little or no meds.

I believe in treating each patient as an individual, rather than an illness. That individual person is a complex being of physical, mental, emotional, and social manifestations. Developing a trusting doctor-patient relationship is critical to the healing process. In addition to these things, I emphasize education in my practice. I believe a patient holds a wealth of knowledge about one’s own body and with information sharing, we can work as a team to removed obstacles, promote health, and encourage vibrance.

As a primary care physician specializing in Naturopathic medicine, I understand the importance of whole body preventative healthcare. My approach to treating and caring for patients is to discover and understand the root cause of an illness, and utilize the healing power of nature and other physical therapies to bring about your body’s innate healing response. Through the use of diet, botanical medicine, and homeopathy coupled with physical therapies such as Acupuncture, Bowen, and more, I find your body’s natural balance and help get you back on the road to health.

I feel that my relationship with my patients is lifelong, and I listen to each patient with an open heart and mind. I involve my patients with their treatment plans and always take their needs into account. Part of treating and caring for my patients includes finding the quickest and most cost-effective therapies possible. As a doctor, it is also my duty to educate my patients about what balanced health is, and teach them how to achieve it in their day to day lives.

I feel that a big part of any successful treatment plan includes having access to your doctor and staff. My courteous and informative staff are here to take your calls, emails and questions. I believe that open communication is vital to treating and caring for all my patients.

Hilary Sandell, ND

Phone: (503) 828-9265

As a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist, I approach your health differently. Addressing the root cause of disease is the key to balancing the body and relieving symptoms. You are unique, and the manifestation of your symptoms is too. In my care, you’ll receive a personalized treatment plan drawing on a variety of techniques such as acupuncture, homeopathy, nutrition, herbal formulations, functional medicine, and Chinese cupping.

Dr. Sandell grew up in a family that emphasized nutrition and exercise at an early age, so it was only natural that she decided to pursue a profession in the health field. Dr. Sandell attended the University of North Carolina, Asheville, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Wellness Promotion in 2009 with an emphasis in Sports Medicine and a minor in Psychology. She interned with holistic nutritionist, Dr.

Liz Lipski, for 3 years during her time at UNCA, which fueled her passion for nutrition, alternative health and understanding the body’s innate ability to heal itself. After graduating from UNC-Asheville, Dr. Sandell moved to Portland, Oregon to attend the National College of Natural Medicine. She graduated in June 2014 with her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree and her Masters in Acupuncture (MAc) in June 2015.

During her time at NCNM, Dr. Sandell spent a year interning with Dr. Steven Sandberg-Lewis who specializes in complex gastrointestinal disorders including small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), inflammatory bowel diseases, gallbladder disorders, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome and others. By working with many of these patients with complex GI issues alongside Dr. Sandberg-Lewis, she learned how to coach each patient regarding a proper diet, lifestyle choices, stress management and appropriate supplementation.

Dr. Sandell also spent extra time learning botanical medicine and completed advanced training in homeopathic therapies as alternatives to allopathic prescription medication for common conditions. Dr. Sandell manages acute and chronic pain with therapies including acupuncture, electro acupuncture, cupping, bodywork, supplementation and nutrition. Dr. Sandell is very passionate about incorporating and balancing all aspects of life, including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, in order to create optimal health.

She uses natural tools and pathways to treat patients suffering from a wide variety of chronic and acute conditions. Her areas of expertise include gastrointestinal disorder, pain management, auto-immune disease and hormone imbalance. She commonly sees patients seeking solutions for digestive issues, weight management, fatigue, depression, endocrine disorders and sleep disorders. When Dr. Sandell is not furthering her education and working, she loves to play sports, do yoga, snowboard, be in nature, spend time with friends, and release her creativity via jewelry making, knitting, crocheting, gardening and other artistic endeavors.

I offer myself first and foremost as an educator to help you learn how to better manage your health over the long term. I don’t believe in the traditional relationship between doctor and patient where the doctor has all the power, in fact, quite the reverse. I feel it is my duty to empower and guide you as YOU make important decisions about your health. I am honored to work with members of the LGBTQI community, as well as the Pagan, Poly, and Kink communities.

The purpose of our clinic is to help as many people as we possibly can regain their health by addressing the true causes of disease, not just the symptoms, and to help them maintain their health, who then in turn, educate others on the benefits of Wellness Care.

Dr. Blake was born in New York City and grew up in the Midwest. He received a degree in Cultural Anthropology and completed his preparatory medical curriculum at the University of Cincinnati in 1994. His studies focused on cross-cultural medical practices while completing a preparatory medical education. He then worked as an herbalist in a small natural foods store and corner natural medicine apothecary in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In anticipation of naturopathic medical school he moved to New York City and worked alongside a well-respected acupuncturist in mid-town Manhattan. Dr. Blake went on to graduate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. National College is the oldest college of naturopathic medicine in North America, celebrating 50 years in 2006. There he completed a Masters in Science of Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine.

He pursued special studies in physiotherapy for infectious and degenerative diseases, Constitutional Hydrotherapy, history of natural medicine and German irisdiagnosis. Before graduating he was already teaching and lecturing in the required courses. After graduation he completed a residency at one of the busiest and longest continually operating naturopathic clinics in North America. Dr. Blake is co-editor and contributing author of the professional textbook Naturopathic Physical Medicine (2008).

He has authored chapters for other professional textbooks as well – Chronic Pelvic Pain and Dysfunction (2011) and Fibromyalgia: A practitioners guide to care (2010). He has authored a teaching workbook on physiotherapy for physicians and is the history editor of the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine project. He is also currently adjunct faculty at National College of Natural Medicine. Dr. Blake combines his extensive knowledge of therapeutic techniques learned through his unique study of the history of naturopathic medicine with the outstanding training of a modern naturopathic college and his apprenticeship at the side of masters of the art.
